What this page covers

Living Bahá'í (this site) is a voice- and text-driven search across the Sacred Writings. This page explains exactly what we collect when you use the search, why we collect it, where it's stored, who can see it, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

Each time you submit a search, our server logs the following:

We do not collect your name, email address, account credentials, payment information, or any data from your device beyond what your browser sends with the search request.

What we do NOT collect

Why we collect it

We use the logs to understand which questions visitors are asking, how the search performs, and roughly where in the world the site is being used. That helps us decide what to improve, what languages to add, and whether the search algorithm is returning helpful passages.

Ultimately, this is how we get better at our purpose: to find helpful passages, to be of maximum service to the world.

Where it's stored and who can see it

Living Bahá'í is operated by Number One Son Software Development. Logs are stored in a Supabase Postgres database hosted in the United States (region us-west-1). Access to the underlying analytics dashboard is protected by a server-validated password and a signed, HttpOnly session cookie. As of this writing, the only person authorized to view the logs is the site operator, roger@grubb.net.

Supabase, as our infrastructure provider, processes the data on our behalf under its own security and privacy controls. See the Supabase Privacy Policy for how they handle data on behalf of their customers.

How long we keep it

We retain logs only as long as they're useful for understanding usage and improving the service. We will purge logs older than 365 days on a rolling basis. (Automation for this rolling deletion is being added; in the meantime, deletion can be requested by email — see below.)

Honoring "Do Not Track"

If your browser sends a DNT: 1 header (the "Do Not Track" signal), we honor it: your search will still return results, but the server will not write an analytics row for that request.

To enable DNT in most browsers, look under Settings → Privacy & security for "Send a Do Not Track request" or similar.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights regarding the personal data we hold about you — including the right to access, correct, or delete it (GDPR for residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom; CCPA/CPRA for California residents; analogous rights in other jurisdictions).

Because we do not link logs to a personal identity, our practical ability to locate "your" records is limited — we can search by rough timestamp, truncated IP prefix, and query text. We'll make a good-faith effort. To exercise your rights, email roger@grubb.net with as much detail as you're comfortable sharing.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has used the site and would like associated logs purged, email roger@grubb.net.

Changes to this notice

If we change our data practices in a material way, we'll update this page and revise the "Effective" date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted on the home page.
